The Dan River Basin Association, Yadkin Riverkeeper and Appalachian Voices are teaming up to present, “River of Coal — Heartbreak on the Dan,” on Feb. 28, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., in the Porter Bynum Welcome Center at Wake Forest University.
The two-hour program will include music, an update on the damage caused by the Duke Energy spill, and information about how area residents can help the cleanup and join efforts to prevent a recurrence, the sponsoring groups say. The event is free and open to the public.
Singer/songwriter Laurelyn Dossett is scheduled to perform.
