Are you an incoming first year with a passion for the environment?

We are currently accepting applications for SLG ’24, the Sustainability Leadership Group for first-year students. Those selected to be part of the SLG team will work together to engage their peers in sustainable behavior change. Orchestration of a green room challenge, residence hall outreach, coordination with RAs, and many other initiatives are all hallmarks of the program. Areas of focus include energy and water conservation, waste reduction, sustainable dining, consumption habits, environmental justice, and participation in sustainability-themed activities and events.

By joining SLG ’24, you’ll be part of a group of amazing students who share your passion and want to make a difference. But don’t just take our word for it; hear from members of the SLG ’23 team!

All interested students are encouraged to apply, especially those from traditionally underrepresented groups. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, with priority given to those submitted prior to the start of the academic year.

And while SLG ’24 is the premier sustainability leadership opportunity for first-year students, there are tons of other ways you can get involved right away, from our Campus Garden and various volunteer opportunities to the Plant-Forward Dining Committee and Compost Crew. We’re also excited to introduce our brand new majors in Environment and Sustainability this year!
