Wake Forest University will be hosting the Piedmont Environmental Alliance Earth Day Fair on Davis Field Saturday, April 17, 2010. This is the 40th anniversary of Earth Day and the 5th celebration for PEA.

More than 100 exhibitors and Teaching Tents will illustrate for all fair-goers how they can reduce their impact on our planet. The theme for the 2010 Piedmont Earth Day Fair will be a “Day of Action.” PEA and the Office of Sustainability at Wake Forest University are teaming up to inspire visitors to commit to making one or more of ten easily adopted lifestyle changes with high potential impact.

The event is free and open to the public and will feature entertainment and learning opportunities for all ages.  Everyone will enjoy the great lineup of sustainable foods and beverages available from local eateries as well as great local music.

The fair will be a “Zero Waste” event. Recycling and composting bins will be available through the venue,  but “trash” cans will be conspicuously absent.  All attendees are encouraged to think creatively about ways to reduce or eliminate waste on Earth Day and each day of the year.  All service-ware at the Fair will be compostable or recyclable and all food and drink sold will be served in or on recyclable or compostable containers.

The live music schedule follows:

10:30 am:  Randy Fulk, Contemporary Folk

11:30 am:  Martha Allman Old Time Band, Old Time

12:30 pm:  The Darnell Woodies, Appalachian Punk

1:30 pm:   Jerry Chapman, Solo Acoustic Pop / Rock

2:30 pm:   Caleb Caudle and the Bayonets, Alt-Country/Indie Rock
