Seeking Pre-Orientation Mentors

Fall 2010 marks the launch of the first sustainability pre-orientation program at Wake Forest. The program, offered to incoming freshmen, will be facilitated with the assistance of five student mentors.

The theme for the first year is sustainable food systems. The group will visit several farms, including RiverRidge in southern Virginia, the ranch on which the grass-fed beef cattle for Grayson are raised, and the Goat Lady Dairy in Climax, NC. Program participants will work in the campus garden each day, meet local restaurateurs who are including regional produce and proteins on their menus, and partner up with the S.P.A.R.C. group on a service project.

Current Wake Forest students who wish to serve as mentors for the program should fill out this form and return it to the Office of Sustainability by Friday, April 30. Student mentors must be available to come to campus as early as Friday, August 13.
