Meet Sam Elter, Sustainability Learning Spaces Manager

The Office of Sustainability is excited to welcome Sam Elter as the new Sustainability Learning Spaces Manager. In this role, Sam will manage the Campus Garden and support other on-campus sustainability learning spaces, helping to expand place-based learning opportunities for students.

Sam brings a passion for and experience in environmental education and regenerative farming that will be an asset to the Office of Sustainability and the Wake Forest community. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Spanish, with a focus on Spanish education. Previously, he served as an instructor at Raven Knob Scout Reservation, where he worked with fellow instructors to teach water-based skills to youth and adults.

Sam also worked as an educator at Minglewood Farm and Nature Preserve, where he developed and taught environmental education lessons that connected young people to the natural world through hands-on exploration and discovery. Most recently, he has lived and worked on an organic farm, gaining hands-on experience with regenerative agriculture and sustainable farming practices.

We are excited to welcome Sam to Wake Forest and look forward to the impact he will have in creating meaningful, place-based sustainability learning opportunities. These experiences will help students connect more deeply with their campus and broader community while learning about climate change solutions and regional ecosystems.
