Wake Forest’s Office of Sustainability was established in the summer of 2009. For nearly 15 years, we have worked in collaboration with partners across campus to integrate sustainable practices, policies, and principles into all levels of operations and culture at Wake Forest.

Our Core Purpose:

Empowering leadership for the sustainability transformation.

We do this by:

1. Developing guiding principles, facilitating strategic planning, and assessing sustainability success through relevant frameworks.

2. Supporting faculty of all ranks and from all disciplines in the integration of disciplinary-focused sustainability content into teaching and learning.

3. Elevating campus discourse, learning, and action by focusing efforts on the areas of highest impact according to scientific expertise.

4. Engaging and empowering faculty, staff, and students to develop critical thinking, humility, compassion, curiosity, and courage.

5. Uplifting and celebrating the efforts of students, faculty, and staff who lead the sustainability transformation on campus and in the world.
