Wake Forest’s Office of Sustainability was established in the summer of 2009 and sits within Finance & Administration. For over 15 years, we have worked in collaboration with partners across campus to integrate sustainable practices, policies, and principles into all levels of operations and culture at Wake Forest.

Our Vision

To transform our campus into a model of institutional resilience, with adaptation and resource conservation at our core.

Our Mission

Empowering faculty, staff, and students to lead the sustainability transformation.

We do this by:

1. Facilitating stakeholder engagement in strategic planning, the cross-functional implementation of campus sustainability goals, and the assessment of outcomes through relevant frameworks.

2. Supporting faculty of all ranks and from all disciplines in the integration of disciplinary-focused sustainability content into teaching and learning.

3. Elevating campus discourse, learning, and action by focusing efforts on the areas of highest impact according to scientific expertise.

4. Engaging and empowering faculty, staff, and students in developing critical thinking, curiosity, compassion, and courage.

5. Uplifting and celebrating the efforts of students, faculty, staff, and alumni who lead the sustainability transformation on campus and in the world.
