Arbor Day Celebration

When: 4:00pm-4:30pm

Where: Outside North Campus Apartments Building 1

Landscaping Services, the Office of Sustainability, and Residence Life and Housing invite you to join us for Wake Forest’s first-ever Arbor Day Celebration. Five trees will be planted in honor of the occasion. We will hear from several prominent members of the university community about the important role of trees on our campus.

Miles Silman, associate professor of biology and director of Wake Forest’s Center for Energy, Environment, and Sustainability, will give the opening remarks which will be followed by an interfaith blessing of the new trees. Following the planting ceremony, guests are encouraged to enjoy refreshments and to take a self-guided tour of the unique flora in the area.

Action: Commit to eating locally/regionally-grown and produced foods (visit farmers markets and ask your grocer where your food was grown/ produced). Honor the hands and livelihoods of those who grow your food, bring it to you, and prepare it.
